Somalia: Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) troops serving under the United Nations Guard Unit Eleven (UNGU-XI) in Somalia have successfully completed Camp Security and Induction Training for the third batch of personnel.
The training, designed to enhance the troops’ operational effectiveness in Somalia’s complex security environment, focused on equipping them with essential security skills and a comprehensive understanding of UN operations.
The Camp Security Training strengthened the troops’ ability to safeguard UN compounds, personnel, and assets from potential threats.
Meanwhile, the Induction Training provided an overview of the UN’s mandate in Somalia, ensuring UPDF personnel fully understand their roles and responsibilities within UNGU.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy UNGU-XI Commander, Major Jacob Gowan Kaburika, commended the troops for their dedication and professionalism.
“You have demonstrated a high level of professionalism and commitment to your duties. I am confident that you will make a positive impact on our operations here in Somalia,” he stated.
