The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has reaffirmed its commitment to community empowerment and social inclusion through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) outreach initiative that saw the Bureau donate essential food items, sanitary supplies, and other welfare materials to Masaka School for the Deaf.
The donation was delivered by a URSB team led by Registrar General Mercy K. Kainobwisho and received by the school’s Director, Francis Kamulegeya, at the institution’s premises in Masaka.
Masaka School for the Deaf is a specialised educational institution that provides nursery, primary, and basic vocational education to deaf and hearing-impaired children.
In addition to academic programmes, the school promotes sports, music, dance and drama, as well as family empowerment initiatives aimed at ensuring children with special needs receive the support and opportunities necessary to thrive.
Speaking during the visit, Kainobwisho said URSB remains committed to supporting vulnerable communities as part of its broader mission of contributing to national development.
“At URSB, we believe that sustainable development requires collective action and a commitment to uplifting the most vulnerable members of society. Supporting institutions such as Masaka School for the Deaf reflects our dedication to inclusion, dignity, and creating opportunities for every Ugandan to realise their full potential,” she said.
She noted that the Bureau’s CSR programme continues to focus on initiatives that improve community welfare and complement government efforts to enhance education, social protection and livelihoods across the country.
Receiving the donation, Kamulegeya expressed gratitude to URSB for its generosity and recognition of the needs of children living with disabilities.
“We are grateful to URSB for this timely support and for taking the time to engage with our learners and staff. Such partnerships are critical in enabling us to provide a conducive learning environment and better care for the children entrusted to us,” he said.
Kamulegeya, a former corporate executive who dedicated his life to serving vulnerable children, was commended by the URSB team for his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of deaf and hearing-impaired learners.
The initiative adds to a growing list of CSR activities undertaken by URSB over the years, including support to educational institutions, health facilities, environmental conservation campaigns, community outreach programmes and vulnerable groups across Uganda.
Through such initiatives, URSB continues to demonstrate that effective public service extends beyond its statutory mandate, embracing a broader responsibility to support communities and contribute to the country’s social and economic transformation.
