The Wakiso Chief Magistrates Court has remanded a man accused of forcibly entering private land, destroying crops and stealing property worth about Shs100 million.
Ssentamu Gerald was arraigned before the court after investigations by the Anti-Corruption Unit, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Criminal Investigations Directorate.
Ssentamu was remanded until September 24, 2026.
Prosecution alleges that Ssentamu falsely claimed ownership of a kibanja on land comprised in Busiro Block 514, Plots 6, 10 and 12 in Kasanje Town Council, Wakiso District.
The court heard that between October 30 and November 4, 2025, Ssentamu and other suspects, who were earlier charged and remanded over similar offences, allegedly mobilised a large group of people and forcibly entered the land occupied by Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd.
The suspects are accused of unlawfully taking possession of the land and destroying tree plantations, coffee trees and other natural trees.
They are also alleged to have stolen nine motors belonging to coffee milling machines, property of Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd, valued at about Shs100 million.
The accused was charged with forcible entry, malicious damage to property and theft.
