Waragi Kills Woman in Kanungu

KANUNGU – Police in Kanungu District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate passing of 33-year-old Gloria Kyarikunda, a resident of Mukayembe village in Kabuga parish, Kihihi sub-county, Kanungu district.

Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the Kigezi Region Police, stated that yesterday around 2:00 PM, the deceased left her residence and headed to Kambuga – Kayembe trading center. There, she consumed a glass of waragi and almost immediately fell unconscious, followed by bouts of vomiting.

Maate confirmed that the deceased was subsequently transported back to her home, where, regrettably, she passed away.

In response to this tragic incident, a team of police officers promptly visited the scene, documented the surroundings, collected samples of the vomit for analysis, and transported the body to the Kihihi Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination.
