Tragedy struck in Rubanda District on Monday evening when a woman collapsed and died during a campaign rally for Rubanda East NRM parliamentary aspirant, Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema.
The deceased, identified as Peace Zikanga, a resident of Rwenkunguru Village in Kibuzigye Parish, Bubaare Sub-county, reportedly collapsed after dancing energetically at the rally held at Mubuhinga Trading Centre. She died instantly.
Following the incident, her body was taken home by family members and residents for burial arrangements. The campaign team continued with their scheduled events, including a rally in Hamuhambo Town Council.
The Rubanda District Police Commander, Abel Barugahare confirmed the incident and stated that there was no foul play involved. He called for responsible participation in campaign activities and reminded the public to prioritize their health during such events.
