Conservationists Move to Mitigate Effects of Climate Change in Kisoro.

The Rotary Club of Mgahinga Kisoro, in collaboration with Kisoro Municipality and Kisoro primary training teachers’ college students, have embarked at planting trees in Kisoro municipality as a way to make Kisoro town green and to conserve the environment.

 

The planting of trees was done from DFCU bank, and along Kisoro Mutorele Road.

 

At the event, the President of Rotary Club of Mgahinga, Innocent Nsaba Rwabinuma said that the aim of planting trees is to make Kisoro town green and to conserve the environment.

 

Rwabinuma said tree planting is one of key interventions in mitigating the effects of climate change.

 

He added that they have done many things including donating twin desks at Mutorele primary school, constructing a classroom block at Mutanda Island and they organized a medical camp among other achievements.

The Kisoro municipal town clerk Haruma Kamba said that the tree planting campaign in the municipality aims at creating a conducive and green environment in Kisoro town.

 

He said that Kisoro should be green as it prepares to be a tourism city.

 

The town clerk Harun said that Municipality has patterned with different organizations to plant trees in the municipality.
