KISORO
The chairperson of Kisoro district tourism committee Louis Bishubeho has managed to engage Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) to develop a new activity in Mgahinga National Park called Perfection Prayers at a place called Kwijuru.
The word Kwijuru means heaven. It is a place in the national park that hosts over 100 species of Golden Monkey and bamboo plantation.
The place is significant in local culture because before colonial times, it was the home of gods and all tribes used to bring their harvests to offer prayers to the gods for good health, fertility and rain.
Bishubeho says this all changed when the colonists evaded Africa and introduced Christianity.
