Evelyn Ninsiima Kikafunda, a passionate advocate for environmental conservation, has been duly nominated to contest for the position of Woman Member of Parliament for Rubanda District on an independent ticket.
Ninsiima was officially nominated at 2:00 PM by the Rubanda District Electoral Commission Registrar, Medard Nteziyaremye. She was accompanied by a cheerful group of supporters, including members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Speaking to journalists shortly after her nomination, Ninsiima pledged to prioritize the improvement of healthcare services across the district, with a particular focus on reducing infant mortality rates.
She also revealed plans to boost household incomes through livestock donations, including goats, sheep, pigs, and hens in line with the government’s Parish Development Model (PDM), which aims to eradicate poverty at the grassroots level.
As the Director of St. Elizabeth Nursery and Primary School in Bushure, Hamurwa Sub-county, Ninsiima reaffirmed her commitment to promoting girl child education as a cornerstone for empowerment and social transformation.
She criticized some leaders for failing to implement key social services outlined in the National Development Plans (NDP I–IV), saying such negligence has slowed progress in community development.
Ninsiima further promised to advocate for human rights, improved agricultural practices, and environmentally friendly farming methods.
She emphasized that Rubanda District, being prone to natural disasters, urgently needs stronger environmental protection measures and public training on sustainability.
