The Central Village, Central Division, Kabale Municipality, National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairperson, Pamela Byensi, who contested as an independent candidate for the LC1 Chairperson seat, has lost an election for the third time.

Byensi first contested in the NRM party primaries for the LC1 Chairperson flag bearer position last year but lost to Kyinaheirwe Darlson Kambuga. She subsequently chose to contest the LC1 elections as an independent candidate.

Earlier this year, Byensi also contested for the Central Ward Woman Councillor seat on the NRM ticket but was defeated by Asiimwe Jacenta of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) in the general elections.

Byensi has now suffered another defeat in the hotly contested LC1 elections held at Kabale Municipal Stadium. The election was characterized by chaos, triggering heavy security deployment and a repeat of voting before the final results were declared.

Kyinaheirwe pledged to serve all residents without discrimination, strengthen security in the village, and promote unity within the community.

During the exercise, the Special Envoy for Special Duties in the Office of the President, Ruhakana Rugunda, applauded residents for turning up in large numbers to participate in the elections.

Rugunda described the elections as a demonstration of democracy within the NRM and urged voters to elect leaders who promote unity, peace, and development rather than division. He emphasized that peaceful elections strengthen democratic governance and contribute to national development.
