Bishop Akanjuna Inspires 85 Confirmants to Embrace Faith & Reject Harmful Paths

RUBANDA – The Bishop of the diocese of Kigezi, the Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna has today confirmed 85 confirmants into Anglican Faith during a service at St Paul’s Nangara COU Parish in Nyamweru Subcounty Rubanda East in Rubanda district.

In his inspiring sermon, Bishop Akanjuna emphasized the importance of accepting Jesus as a personal savior and finding strength in Him to resist the temptations of the devil. He expressed deep concern about the challenges that today’s youth face, particularly the allure of materialism and the consequent involvement in harmful activities such as homosexuality and lesbianism.

Bishop Akanjuna extended his words of encouragement to the youth, urging them to remain steadfast in the values of the word of God. He passionately appealed to them to turn away from destructive paths and embrace a life dedicated to righteousness. The Bishop firmly believed that by focusing on faith and adhering to divine teachings, the youth could build a better future for themselves and the Church.

Bishop Akanjuna also urged them to remain steadfast in their faith and shun away from false preaching that has been infiltrating the church.

Addressing the growing concern of false preachers who prioritize pleasing their gods over the Almighty, Bishop Akanjuna emphasized the importance of worshiping only one God, the true God. He warned that such deceptive teachings have led to a dilution of the church’s core values, creating a troubling gap between Christians and their Creator.

Calling upon the congregation to seek guidance from God through prayer, the Bishop sought to protect them from falling prey to misleading doctrines. He stressed the significance of living a righteous life, focused on achieving an everlasting connection with God rather than being consumed by material desires.

In support of the Bishop’s message, Tumwijukye Moses Bwengye, a member of the synod, passionately challenged men and boys to actively participate in church services. He lamented the low turnout of male attendees, urging parents to involve their sons in church activities and emphasizing the importance of male presence in worship.

Accompanying Bishop Akanjuna during the address were esteemed members of the clergy and faithful, including his dear wife, Mama Charity Akanjuna, the respected Dean of St. Peter’s Denary, the very Rev Canon Obed Turihohabwe, and Ven Agaba Benon from the office of planning and development. Additionally, Tumwijukye Moses Bwengye, a synod member, and Nabaasa Wilberforce, a fellow synod member from Kagunga COU parish, who also serves as the senior inspector of schools in Kabale district, were present to lend their support.
