The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has hailed the Rt. Rev. Paul Kiptoo Masaba for a decade of visionary and impactful leadership that has significantly transformed Sebei Diocese.
Speaking at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Kapchorwa, during celebrations marking Bishop Masaba’s 10th anniversary in episcopal ministry, Archbishop Kaziimba praised him for fulfilling the pledges he made at his consecration.
“He promised to build a Cathedral, a Diocesan Guesthouse, churches, schools, and health facilities, while preaching the gospel and he has delivered on all fronts. This is a testimony of God’s faithfulness, fruitfulness, and hope for the future,” Archbishop Kaziimba said.
The celebrations began with the consecration and dedication of the newly completed St. Peter’s Cathedral, the commissioning of a Diocesan Guesthouse named after the late Rt. Rev. Augustine Salimo, the first Bishop of Sebei Diocese, and the inauguration of St. Paul’s Health Centre IV.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, represented by Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, urged Christians to pursue both spiritual growth and economic empowerment.
“We must eliminate moneylessness by engaging in productive sectors such as agriculture, industry, services, and ICT,” she said, commending Bishop Masaba’s leadership for championing development initiatives that promote job creation, education, health, and poverty eradication. She pledged continued government support to the Diocese.
Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, representing President William Ruto, reaffirmed strong bilateral relations between Uganda and Kenya, citing progress in security cooperation, cross-border trade, and the Suam One-Stop Border Post project.
He was accompanied by high-level Kenyan dignitaries including Hon. Stephen Arap Sang, Governor of Nandi County, and Hon. Allan Chesang, Senator of Trans-Nzoia County.
Several bishops from Uganda and Kenya graced the occasion, alongside international mission partners led by the Very Rev. Canon Andrew Rowell of Christchurch Montgomery, USA.
The celebration was widely regarded as a moment of thanksgiving, unity, and renewed commitment to both spiritual and socio-economic transformation in the Sebei region.
