With support from Dan Church Aid (DCA), the Church of Uganda, through the Interfaith Action for Gender Justice and Women Economic Empowerment project, has conducted a one-day financial literacy training for 750 members from 25 women-led Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) in Kumi Diocese.

Held on May 12, 2025, the training focused on key areas including financial literacy, income-generating activity (IGA) selection, and business management.

The initiative aims to expand socio-economic opportunities for women and girls, thereby reducing their vulnerability to gender-based violence (GBV). It forms part of a broader effort to equip women with essential skills to manage finances effectively and run sustainable businesses.

The training precedes the second disbursement of Shs 25 million in seed capital to the 25 women-led VSLA groups. This financial injection is expected to boost economic empowerment and contribute to poverty reduction in the region.
