Kikungiri Archdeacon Warns Against Religious Syncretism, Urges Christians to Respect Anglican Faith

KABALE – The Archdeacon of St. Mark Kikungiri Church of Uganda Archdeaconry in Kabale District, Ven. Amos Tweteise has emphasized the importance of respecting the Anglican Church and cautioned against the deceptive blending of religions under the guise of worshiping one God.

In his sermon during the Induction service of Rev. Godson and Betty Katarihwa as the new Parish Priest of Mwiisi Church of Uganda Parish in Kitumba sub-county, Kabale district yesterday, Ven. Amos Tweteise urged Christians to be discerning and avoid inadvertently providing opportunities for the worship of the devil.

The occasion marked the transition from Rev. Just Ayebare to Rev. Godson, who assumed the role of Parish Priest after Rev. Ayebare’s appointment as the Treasurer of the Diocese of Kigezi in a recent reshuffle.

Ven. Tweteise expressed concern that in contemporary times, some Christians have strayed into a form of religious promiscuity, failing to comprehend the true essence of the kingdom of God they claim to worship. He called upon Christians to uphold the sanctity of their respective religious affiliations and conduct them in a manner befitting the worship of God.


During the same event, Hon. Grace Ankunda Bekunda Bwesigye, the aspiring Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament and the 2016 NRM flag bearer for Ndorwa East parliamentary seat, shared words of wisdom with the congregation. She encouraged Christians to show unwavering respect for their church leaders, emphasizing that such respect is integral to fostering the development of the church. Hon. Ankunda urged the newly appointed priest to utilize his tenure in spreading the gospel of love, reconciliation, and deliverance.
