KABALE – The State Minister of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Honorable David Bahati has emphasized the importance of young boys and girls adhering to their principles to develop into responsible citizens.
His message was conveyed by Kabale’s Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, who was the Guest of Honor at the Kigezi Diocese boys and girls brigade event on August 5, 2023. The event took place at the Kigezi High School primary school lower playground in Northern Division of Kabale Municipality.
Minister Bahati expressed gratitude to the Diocese of Kigezi’s Bishop, Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna, for supporting the boys and girls brigade movement. He encouraged the attendees to remain focused on the brigade’s main objectives, including advancing the kingdom of God among young boys and girls and promoting principles like obedience, discipline, deliverance, and self-respect.
Minister Bahati urged the youth to uphold the brigade’s principles, which would enable them to mature into responsible citizens who lead dignified lives, in line with the teachings of the Holy Bible (Matthew 5:13-16). He challenged them to become the “light” and “salt” of their societies, emphasizing a four-dimensional ministry of spiritual, physical, economic, and social growth.
Additionally, Minister Bahati called upon the younger generation to participate in government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), EMYOOGA, and the Youth Livelihood Program (YLP), which aim to uplift households from poverty to financial stability.
Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna, the Bishop of the Kigezi Diocese, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of parents spending quality time with their children and instilling moral values based on the word of God.
He noted that many children in the current generation lack these values and discipline due to parental neglect, leading to a lack of patriotism. He urged parents to join him in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to help address this issue.
