MASAKA – In a recent development, the Directorate of Crime Intelligence, in collaboration with territorial teams from Kampala Metropolitan and Greater Masaka, successfully linked Mbaziira Ronald, also known as Magezi, a 24-year-old resident of Ngobe Bunamwaya, to a total of 13 cases involving Aggravated Robbery.
Of these, 8 incidents occurred within the Kampala area, while an additional 5 took place in the Greater Masaka region. Magezi’s apprehension occurred on the 31st of July, 2023, following his re-arrest at the Modern Guest House in Kabawo zone, Mutundwe Parish, Rubaga Division.

The initial arrest of Magezi and his accomplices, Ssendaula Jamil (aka Younger) and Akandwanaho Fahad (aka Paul), was executed while they were en route on a robbery mission. Their attempt was foiled when law enforcement intercepted them in a motor vehicle bearing registration number UBJ 267T along Namasole road. Though Magezi managed to escape during transportation for a medical examination at Katwe Central Police Station.
subsequent investigations have yielded valuable information about the gang’s activities.
Notably, this notorious group, known for employing pangas and iron bars in their criminal endeavors, has been linked to several high-profile incidents. These include the home invasion and robbery of Muzito Julius in Busabala parish, Makindye, during which Ugx 90 million was stolen, as well as a robbery at the residence of CP Genevas Tumuhimbise in Kyengera Town Council. Magezi and his accomplices have admitted to their involvement in 8 Aggravated Robberies within the Kampala area.
On the 22nd of May, 2023, the criminal gang targeted Bihungilo Ruth’s residence, making off with an SAR gun from a security guard of SEK Security, 2 flat-screen TVs, and 8 million shillings.
Their criminal activities also extended to attempted robberies, such as the case involving Murungi Perezi, a retired police officer. The gang targeted Murungi’s home located in Bwebajja cell, Kajjansi, but fled the scene, leaving behind an SAR gun and other tools after a swift police response.
Furthermore, the gang is responsible for a series of attacks on various individuals and homes. This includes an assault on Qui Feng, Director of China State Construction Company, during which they stole 3 mobile phones and USD 300. They also admitted to robbing Ugx 500,000/= and 6 mobile phones from the residence of John Garanga, a South Sudanese National, along with an attack on Kobusinge Diana and Nalukwago Yudaya, from whom they stole Ugx 7.8 million, USD 500, and 7 mobile phones in Lufuka zone.
Subsequently, Magezi relocated his operations to Nyendo-Mukungwe division in Masaka City, where he was involved in 5 more Aggravated Robberies across Masaka and Kyazanga. Notable evidence recovered during investigations includes an SAR gun from SEK Security Company, a pistol found in a toilet in Mugongo zone, Kyengera Town Council, where Magezi was residing, as well as various other items such as flat-screen TVs, sharp pangas, masks, house breaking tools, and master keys.
The apprehension of the notorious gang leader, Mbaziira Ronald (Magezi), underscores law enforcement’s determination to rid the community of violent criminals.
SCP Enanga Fred, the Uganda Police Spokesperson, reiterated their commitment to disrupting and dismantling such dangerous criminal networks, assuring communities of their continuous efforts in maintaining public safety.
