RUKIGA- The Cabinet Minister for Internal Affairs, Retired Major Gen. Kahinda Otafiire, has passionately urged men and women to join forces in promoting family values and education for the advancement of society.
With his words laced with conviction, Otafiire emphasized the importance of unity during a fundraising event for the construction of Rukiga Muslim Nursery and Primary School in Kitanga Kashambya Sub-County, Rukiga District.
A staggering sum of twenty-one million, eight hundred fifty-seven thousand, seven hundred was generously collected in cash during the event.
Expressing his gratitude, Otafiire extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Rukiga District Woman Member of Parliament, Honorable Kamusime Caroline Muhwezi, who also serves as the Chairperson of the construction committee.
He thanked her for the invitation and commended the Muslim community in the area for their visionary initiative in constructing the school within their vicinity.
Calling upon the entire populace of Rukiga and Uganda as a whole, especially the Muslim community, Otafiire encouraged them to stand united, transcending religious beliefs, gender, political affiliations, age, or tribe, in order to achieve their shared goals.
In addition, Kahinda Otafiire urged parents to preserve the cultural tradition of providing equal educational opportunities for all their children, irrespective of gender, until they complete their schooling.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by the Members of Parliament and the district khadi in delivering social services, promising to use his influence to advocate for more support from government officials for the construction of the school.
Moving on to the Rukiga Woman Member of Parliament, Honorable Kamusime Caroline Muhwezi, who also serves as the Chairperson of the construction committee for Rukiga Muslim Nursery and Primary School, expressed her deep appreciation to Retired Major Gen. Kahinda Otafiire for accepting her invitation.
She extended her gratitude to the multitude of attendees for their overwhelming presence and their generous contributions towards the construction of the only Muslim school in the region.
With unwavering determination, Kamusiime pledged to continue working tirelessly with the community, ensuring the smooth progress of the construction project.
The Rukiga County hopeful Member of Parliament Retired Capt. Christmas Damson Kivumbi passionately urged parents to prioritize education by investing more effort in their children’s studies and ensuring their enrollment in school.
The Kabale District Muslim Khadi, Sheikh Kabu Lule, stressed that once the construction is completed, the school will cater to students of all faiths and backgrounds.
Expressing his gratitude to all the contributors, Khadi Lule called upon those who hadn’t contributed to join in supporting the project, emphasizing the need for swift completion.
The collective efforts of these influential individuals, along with the support and contributions of the community, underscored the importance of unity and education in uplifting society as a whole.
