The feast, observed annually on May 13th, commemorates the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to three children – Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinto while they were tending sheep in Portugal in 1917. Amidst the festivities, Reverend Sister Maria Tumuheirwe, serving at Karoli Lwanga Hospital –Nyakibale in Rukungiri District marked her 25 years of ministry, expressing gratitude to God for her service.

During his homily, which drew heavily from the Gospel according to John (2:1-11), where Jesus transformed water into wine at the behest of his mother Mary, Monsignor Sunday underscored the adverse effects of excessive alcohol consumption.
He lamented that it often leads to loss of self-control, consciousness, and contributes to a surge in domestic violence cases within society. Monsignor Sunday pointed out that alcohol consumption also poses a challenge to clergy members, hindering their effectiveness in spreading the word of God.
He stressed the importance of self-reflection and repentance among Christians to combat this vice.
