KABALE: The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja, has warned Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) schools against charging fees on learners.
While officiating at the Women’s Day celebrations organized by Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Honorable Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira, at Kyanamira Playground in Kyanamira Sub County in Kabale District on Friday, Nabbanja reiterated that the government has invested substantial funds in education to facilitate free learning in UPE and USE schools. The celebrations were held under the theme “Invest in Women to Accelerate Progress and Inspire Inclusion.”

Nabbanja highlighted that many learners drop out of school due to the struggle to raise fees, and as a measure, the government advocates for free education at all levels to ensure full access to education.

During the function, Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira, advocated for the construction of Maziiba Bridge in Maziiba Sub county. In response, Nabbanja revealed that the government has allocated 2.2 billion shillings for the construction of Maziiba Bridge in the next financial year.
