Police in Kabale District are investigating the sudden death of a 50-year-old electrician, only identified as Gilbert, commonly known as “Engineer,” who is suspected to have died by electrocution while on a job.

According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, the incident occurred on 19th November 2025 at around 4:00pm at Karugashe Cell, Butobere Ward, Central Division in Kabale Municipality.

Preliminary reports indicate that Gilbert, a resident of Bugongi in Southern Division, Kabale Municipality, had been called by a client, Akahurira Catherine, 34, an assistant administrator at Kabale Chief Magistrate’s Court, to fix an electric socket in her bedroom.

It is alleged that power went off as he was working and later returned while he was still fixing the socket. Akahurira reportedly alerted him when she noticed the bulb had come back on, but Gilbert assured her that he was experienced and knew what he was doing.
