IBANDA: A man from Bufunda 1 Cell, Bufunda Ward, in Bufunda Division, Ibanda Municipality, has cut off his wife’s right hand, accusing her of engaging in an extramarital affair.
The victim, identified as Catherine Mbabazi, is currently receiving treatment at Kasande Clinic in Ibanda Municipality. The incident occurred on Sunday at around 5:00 PM.
SP Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident on Monday, stating, “Police in Ibanda district are investigating the circumstances that led to the severe injury of Catherine Mbabazi on August 25, 2024, at around 5:00 PM.”
He added, “It is alleged that on August 25, 2024, at around 5:00 PM in Bufunda 1 Cell, Bufunda Ward, Bufunda Division, Ibanda Municipality, an individual identified as Alex attacked Catherine Mbabazi and severed her right hand with a panga on accusations of engaging in an extramarital affair.”
”No arrests have been made yet, and inquiries into the matter are ongoing”. He said.
