Furthermore, a multi-billion-dollar water gravity flow scheme, funded by the World Bank, is in progress, showcasing the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for residents.

These developments were announced during the 5th Graduation Ceremony of Kagando School of Nursing and Midwifery and Kagando School of Allied Health Sciences, where 1,140 students received certificates and diplomas in medical and healthcare fields, including theatre techniques, medical laboratory technology, nursing, and midwifery.

In his keynote address, Harold Muhindo emphasized the importance of prioritizing education and healthcare in his constituency. He called on the government to allocate more resources to these sectors, acknowledging their critical role in community well-being.

Kasese District LCV Chairperson, Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi, also used the occasion to urge the central government to provide “Hard to Reach” allowances to teachers and healthcare workers in the district’s 21 most remote administrative units. This appeal underscored the need to make essential services accessible to even the most isolated communities.

In response, State Minister of Primary Health Care, Hon. Margret Muhanga, who also represents Fort Port City North Division in Parliament, assured the people of Kasese that she would advocate for their concerns in high-level government offices.

She commended the district’s residents for their development efforts, particularly given the region’s challenging mountainous terrain, and lauded their positive attitude toward progress.

However, the event was not without its criticisms. Florence Kabugho, the Kasese District Woman MP, expressed frustration over the exclusion of female MPs from speaking roles at key district events.

She pointed out that, despite being elected by the entire district, women MPs are often overlooked in favor of directly elected constituency representatives.

Kabugho urged event organizers to ensure equal opportunities for both male and female MPs to address the public at significant gatherings.

To support the region’s development, Hon. Kabugho and Hon. Harold Muhindo each contributed one million Ugandan shillings, while Sowedi Kitanywa donated 500,000 shillings.

Dr. Julius Bwambale Monday Rude, the NRM Chairperson for Bukonzo County East, made a notable contribution of 8.5 million shillings toward the construction of a 5 Billion-shilling library at the proposed Uganda Christian University campus in Kagando, further emphasizing the community’s commitment to education and progress.
