RUBANDA: During a vibrant Soccer Gala held among the youth of Rubanda Parish, Bruce Baraba Kabaasa, a Member of Parliament hopeful for Rubanda West County on Saturday urged young people to actively engage in leadership at all levels.
The event coincided with the annual youth conference, fostering a spirit of community and empowerment. Held at Kandihe Playground in Rubanda Town Council, the gala served as a platform for Kabaasa to emphasize the importance of youth involvement in governance.
He remarked, “To participate in efforts that bring you closer to managing the state affairs of the country, you must engage at every level—whether at school, church, or village. This is not just participation; it’s training for future leaders.”
Kabaasa encouraged the youth further, saying, “Among you are future leaders. I urge you to use this opportunity to its fullest and inspire other young people in your communities.”
He highlighted the need for nurturing young citizens who are productive, value-driven, and committed to making a difference.
In his address, Kabaasa also stressed the importance of improving the education sector, advocating for enhanced learning systems to better empower the youth.
Rev. Fr. Isaac Turinawe, Principal of Rubanda Vocational Institute, echoed these sentiments, noting that the initiative was designed to engage young people during their long holiday.
“This program reduces idleness and encourages proactive involvement in community development,” he said.
The youth conference, which has drawn over 700 participants from Rubanda Parish, concluded on Sunday, January 12, with a mass and thanksgiving ceremony at Rubanda Catholic Parish.
The event celebrated the achievements and aspirations of the youth, marking the culmination of a week filled with learning, collaboration, and inspiration.
