Alupo won the hotly contested seat during the NRM party structures elections, which included categories such as women, youth, persons with disabilities, the elderly, entrepreneurs, mainstream party leaders, workers, and LC1 NRM flag bearers on Tuesday.

She overwhelmingly defeated her challenger, former Arrow-boy Charles Alungo, garnering 307 votes to his 7, according to NRM election official Moses Otim. The election, which was described as free and fair, was witnessed by Hon. Fred Omach.

In her victory speech, Vice President Alupo commended her opponent for the courage to contest against a sitting vice president and expressed gratitude to the residents of Oigo Imumwa for their support and trust.
