Enid Origumisiriza, an aspirant for the Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament seat, has officially launched her campaign trail ahead of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries scheduled for 17th July 2025.
Speaking during the launch at Kabale Central Market on Monday, Origumisiriza outlined her key priorities, including promoting the tourism industry, particularly through the ongoing Kabale–Lake Bunyonyi road project, advocating for Kabale to attain city status, and investing in sports initiatives such as football and cultural storytelling to attract tourists and create jobs for unemployed youth.
She also pledged to champion health sector improvements, citing the need for staff housing at health centers, which she said is crucial for improving maternal care and service delivery.
Origumisiriza further promised to advocate for quality education, support women enterprise groups, and establish orphanage centers to care for vulnerable children.
“I have put in place measures to ensure security during this election period,” Origumisiriza assured her supporters.
Origumisiriza is seeking to unseat the incumbent MP, Hon. Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira, who has also intensified her re-election campaign.
In the 2021 NRM primaries and subsequent general elections, Atwakiire defeated Origumisiriza to retain the seat.
