The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, has commissioned a state-of-the-art digital learning facility at Kachumbala Primary School in Bukedea District, marking a major step toward promoting technology-driven education in rural communities.

The digital classroom, established by Nkumba University under the Digitally Community-Centred Early Childhood Development Approach (DECEDA), was made possible with support from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and the Ministries of Education and Sports, and ICT and National Guidance.

The initiative seeks to enhance inclusive and technology-supported early childhood learning in underserved areas.

While commissioning the facility on Tuesday, Speaker Among urged the community and nearby schools to embrace digital education as a tool for empowerment and transformation.

“I encourage our learners to take full advantage of this digital classroom for research and learning. This facility will help bridge the education gap between rural and urban schools,” she said.

Among also requested UCC to provide more computers to Kachumbala Primary School to boost the effectiveness of the new facility and enable broader access for learners.

She commended UCC for its continued efforts in implementing government programs that promote ICT, calling on the Commission to extend such initiatives to schools across the country.

In her remarks, the Speaker also applauded teachers for heeding the government’s call to end their strike, assuring them of the government’s commitment to addressing their concerns comprehensively and in a timely manner.
