Police in Kabale District are investigating a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 30-year-old man along the Kabale-Mbarara highway on Monday morning.
The deceased, Gumisiriza Silver of Muyumbu Village, Kyanamira Sub-County, was struck by a speeding vehicle near Nyakigugwe at around 7:30 a.m. He died instantly at the scene.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, said officers documented the scene and took the body to Kabale Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Maate added that efforts to trace the vehicle and apprehend the driver are underway.
He urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist the police in bringing the culprit to justice.
