Police in Kampala have foiled a planned robbery in Wandegeya and arrested five suspects linked to a string of aggravated robberies across the Kampala Metropolitan area.
The suspects have been identified as Gizamba Ivan, Muyingo Rogers, Ashford Juma, Masiga Musa, and Wanyama James.
According to Police, the suspects were arrested on Friday morning following an intelligence-led operation targeting a planned robbery involving a mobile money agent in Wandegeya.
It is alleged that on May 15, 2026, at around 8:00 a.m., Police received intelligence about a group of suspected robbers who were allegedly plotting to attack a victim expected to collect a bag of money from Kalerwe and later deposit it with a bank agent in the Wandegeya area. Police say the suspects had planned to strike during the transaction.
Speaking on the operation, Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala said officers acted swiftly on the intelligence, mounting an operation that led to the arrest of the five suspects and the impounding of two motorcycles, registration numbers UGG 664A and UMA 567JW.
Kawala added that one of the arrested individuals is believed to be a key suspect linked to several aggravated robberies within the Kampala Metropolitan area, including incidents at Kitezi Hardware Shop in Wakiso District, Gwanda Mall, and Centenary Bank in Kampala.
Police say investigations are ongoing as security agencies intensify efforts to track down other suspects believed to be connected to the robberies.
