The Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Maj. Godfrey Katamba, and the Kabale District LCV Chairperson, Denis Nzeirwe Ndyomugyenyi, have officiated at the handover of neonatal resuscitation equipment donated through Rotary to improve newborn healthcare services across the greater Kabale region.
The equipment was received by Rotary District 9214 from Rotary District 9213 under a Rotary-supported maternal and child health initiative aimed at reducing newborn deaths and strengthening neonatal care services.
The beneficiaries are Maziba Health Centre IV in Kabale District, Hamurwa Health Centre IV in Rubanda District, and Mparo Health Centre IV in Rukiga District.
The handover ceremony, coordinated by Rotary Club of Kabale President Paddy Mwesigye, was held at the Office of the Kabale District Health Officer.
The donated medical equipment includes three baby cots, three Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) chairs, two radiant warmers, one pulse oximeter, one Warmilu “Warm Embrace” newborn warming device, one newborn resuscitation kit, two digital thermometers, two blended Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines, one phototherapy unit, and one patient monitor.
Rotary officials said the equipment is expected to enhance the capacity of the three health facilities to provide quality care for premature and critically ill newborns, ultimately improving survival rates in the region.
The event was attended by representatives from the Rotary Club of Bunyonyi, which coordinates Rotary activities in Rubanda District, as well as members of the Rotary Club of Kabale City, who will oversee the delivery of the equipment to Maziba Health Centre IV.
