KABALE – Authorities at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital are urgently calling for the establishment of a police post on the hospital premises to address the escalating crime rates in the surrounding communities.

This demand comes as intern doctors have raised serious concerns about their safety, reporting multiple incidents of attacks and robberies while commuting between the hospital and their residences. Dr. Ochieng Osinde, the Head of Interns at the Hospital, revealed that within a span of just five weeks, four medical interns have fallen victim to these attacks, resulting in the loss of their belongings.

Dr. Filbert Nyeko, the Director of Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, stressed the need for heightened security measures within the hospital compound, particularly given the uncertain intentions of those operating businesses in the vicinity. He cited a recent incident involving Johnson Musiime, the hospital’s Head of Security, who narrowly escaped harm when he was confronted by four assailants on the night of September 10.
