KANUNGU – Police in Kanungu District have reported a tragic accident on the Kihihi-Rukungiri road, claiming the life of a 26-year-old Boda-Boda rider identified as Arineitwe.
The Kigezi sub-region Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, has confirmed this unfortunate incident.
He revealed that the victim hailed from Karukondo village in Nyakashure parish, Nyamirama sub-county, Kanungu district.
Maate explained that the accident took place at Nyamirama township along the Kihihi-Rukungiri road yesterday at approximately 8:37 Pm.
The collision involved a white Fuso lorry with registration number UBH433N and a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle registered as UFU189Q.
The primary cause of the accident, as stated by Maate, was the vehicle’s excessive speed, resulting in a collision with the Boda-Boda that was crossing the road.
Promptly, the police were alerted and swiftly responded to the scene. Maate further noted that the victim’s body has been transported to Kihihi Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.
Both the motor vehicle and motorcycle have been impounded at Nyamirama police post pending an inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).
