RUKUNGIRI – A 26-year-old Clinical Medicine Volunteer at Nyakibale Hospital has died in an accident.
The deceased, identified as Abaho Austen and a resident of Kebison Town Council in Rukungiri District, lost his life in a single fatal accident.
The unfortunate incident unfolded when Abaho Austen, riding his motorcycle with registration number UDY 134Y, encountered a pothole on his way home from work at Nyakibale Hospital last night at around 01:25 AM. Struggling to regain control after hitting the pothole, he ultimately collided with a metallic side road guard, leading to a fatal fall that claimed his life on the spot.
Elly Maate, the Police spokesperson for the Kigezi region, confirmed the incident. Following the report, the Police promptly arrived at the scene, conducted a thorough investigation, and documented the details.
Maate says the body of the deceased was transported to Nyakibale Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination, while the motorcycle was impounded at Rukungiri Central Police Station awaiting inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles (IOV).
