Expectant mother, 4 passengers cheat death in Rubanda ambulance accident

RUBANDA-A total of five passengers including an expectant mother  on Saturday 04/03/2023 survived a nasty single accident that involved an ambulance in Rubanda district.

According to the Kigezi region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, the victims are; Busingye Brandina (25), a midwife and resident of Nyarugaragara village, Nyamabare parish, Byomugabe Wilson (45), the driver also a resident of Ntaraga village, Ntaraga parish, Ntegyerezi Veneranda (52), a resident of Kashasha village, kashasha parish, Nyinaguhigwa Brandina an expectant mother, also a resident of Kashasha village, kashasha parish and Nuwamanya Anociate female juvenile of around 2yrs, daughter to Nyinaguhigwa all from Ikumba Subcounty in Rubanda district.

Maate told Journalists today morning that the accident occurred yesterday at around 03:50 PM at Ntaraga village, Ntaraga parish in Ikumba sub county along Kagunga Kabale marram road in Rubanda district, when the motor vehicle reg no. UAL 194J T/ Land cruiser white in colour ambulance attached to Rubanda primary  health care program (PHCP) Health center 111, a facility owned by medical mission sisters under supervision of Kabale Diocese, lost control and overturned while rushing an expectant woman to Kabale referral hospital.

Maate alleges that the ambulance was heading to Kabale rushing an expectant pregnant patient who had been referred to Kabale referral hospital from Kiizi HC111, but due to over speeding the driver lost control, went off the road and overturned several times and ended in the valley about 25 meters from the road.

He added that the five victims who were on board all survived with injuries adding that scene was visited by Asp Wakatuma Alamanzani DTO Rubanda and team, sketch plan drafted and Mv towed and parked at Rubanda police station pending IOV inspection.
