Accident Claims 8 Lives in Isingiro

ISINGIRO – On 08/09/2023 around 19:10, the police in Isingiro District responded to a tragic accident involving two motor vehicles: UBG 812K, an orange Isuzu bus owned by Global company, and UBL 945Y, a Fuso Fighter.

According to reports, on the aforementioned date and time, motor vehicle UBL 945Y, loaded with scrap metals and carrying passengers, was en route from Isingiro to Mbarara.

Unfortunately, it encountered a mechanical fault while navigating a slope at Mile 17. This led to a loss of control, causing the truck to swerve dangerously. To avoid a head-on collision, an oncoming bus from the opposite direction had to pull over.

In the process, the truck collided with the rear of the bus, resulting in both vehicles overturning.

Tragically, this accident claimed the lives of 8 unidentified male adults who were in the truck, and it left an unidentified male adult in the bus injured.

Samson Kasasira, the spokesperson for the Rwizi region police, reported that the injured individual was promptly transported to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for medical attention.

Kasasira confirmed that the bodies of the deceased have been transported to the Mbarara Regional Referral mortuary for further procedures.
