Police in Rukiga District are investigating the circumstances under which a 30-year-old man, identified as Ben Byaruhanga, died in a fatal road accident along the Kisiizi–Rushebeya–Muhanga murram road.

The deceased, a resident of Katabonwa Cell, Kiyanza Parish in Rwentobo Town Council, Ntungamo District, was killed in a single-vehicle accident that occurred at around 11:33 PM on Wednesday night at Rushebeya Swamp, near Rushebeya Trading Centre.

According to Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, the accident involved a green Zongshen tricycle with registration number UGB 212V.

The tricycle was reportedly overloaded with 26 bags of charcoal and carrying one passenger, the deceased who was seated on top of the load.

Maate explained that the rider, who was traveling from the Rushebeya side toward Muhanga, lost control of the vehicle while attempting to avoid a pothole near the swamp. The tricycle overturned, killing Byaruhanga instantly.
