RUKIGA: Police in Rukiga District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 24-year-old Dismus Turyasingura, a resident of Mwendo Cell, Nyanja Parish, Maziba Sub-county in Kabale District.

According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, Turyasingura was allegedly killed while attempting to steal from the home of a man identified as Paddy on the night of September 5, 2024, in Kamafuni Cell, Bukinda Sub-county, Rukiga District.

Maate explained that earlier that day, at around 4:00 PM, Turyasingura had attended a party at the home of a man named Robert in Kamafuni Cell. Later that night, he and two unidentified accomplices reportedly attempted to rob Paddy’s home. Turyasingura was caught and beaten to death, while his two associates managed to escape.

Turyasingura’s body was discovered in Rwanyamutate Cell. The case was reported to police by Ruth Amutuhaire, a businesswoman, and the scene was documented. Police recorded statements from witnesses, and the deceased’s decomposed body was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem before being handed over to his relatives for burial.

Maate noted that efforts are underway to arrest and prosecute those involved. He urged anyone with information that could lead to the suspects’ capture to come forward.
