KAMPALA – Yesterday, the Anti-Corruption Court convicted and sentenced Kigwana Simon, a former State Prosecutor in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, on two counts of corruption.
In 2019, Kigwana was apprehended by the Anti-Corruption State House Unit in collaboration with the Uganda Police.
His arrest came after he sought a gratification of UGX 6M from court users (wananchi) to influence bail objection in a criminal case at Nabweru Chief Magistrate’s Court.
As a consequence of his actions, Kigwana has been fined UGX 7M and is prohibited from working for the government for the next 10 years.
