KABALE: Police in Kabale District have arrested a motorcycle driver and his conductor following a viral social media video showing their vehicle, registration number UBB 302E, a Toyota Noah, being dangerously loaded and driven along Kabale – Katuna Road.

In the video, the conductor was seen sitting precariously beside the loaded cargo on top of the vehicle, a highly unsafe situation that authorities deem intolerable.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, identified the driver as Brian Akanyijuka and the conductor as Kennedy Kyokwijuka. He said that both have been charged with dangerous loading, carrying passengers in a manner that endangers their lives, and carrying passengers without a license.

Maate stated that they will be brought before a court of law upon completion of inquiries to face charges accordingly. He emphasized that the prosecution aims to deter similar reckless behavior by others in the future.
