KABALE: Police in Kabale District have arrested one suspect, identified as John Paul Kasirye, and are actively hunting for his associate who is allegedly on the run for a computer misuse case.
Kasirye, a resident of Nansana, Kampala, was apprehended last Wednesday at Shumuk Forex Bureau in Kampala, where he is employed.
According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, between February 26th and 28th, 2024, the suspects hacked into the email account of Safari Vocational and Travel Services, owned by Jason Nuwamanya in Kabale.
They altered invoice details, diverting fifteen thousand USD meant for an Austrian tourist’s tour in Uganda.
Maate stated that investigations are ongoing, with efforts to apprehend the second suspect underway to ensure they are brought before the courts of law.
