RUBANDA: State Minister for Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, responsible for general duties, Henry Musasizi, has urged financially disadvantaged students to consider vocational training as a pathway to expedited employment opportunities.

Speaking at the induction ceremony of Venerable Oscar Mwesigwa, the New Archdeacon of Bubare Archdeaconry under the Diocese of Kigezi yesterday, Minister Musasizi emphasized the importance of career guidance tailored towards vocational training, particularly for students facing financial constraints.

As the Rubanda East County Member of Parliament and Rubanda District NRM Chairperson, Minister Musasizi highlighted the significance of collaboration between parents and educators in providing appropriate career advice. He underscored the value of vocational skills, citing examples such as carpentry, building, plumbing, and electrical installations. Minister Musasizi noted government-supported technical institutions like Kabale Technical Institute (KTI), situated near Bubare Sub county, as viable options for vocational education.

“Equipping students with skills in carpentry, building, plumbing, and electrical installations opens doors to immediate employment opportunities and empowers them to contribute to the economic development of their communities,” he emphasized.

He attributed this success to the prevailing political stability within Rubanda District, fostering a culture of collective responsibility among stakeholders including the District education department, School Management Authorities, teachers, students, and parents.
