Police in Kabale Municipality have launched investigations into the death of a casual worker who was allegedly assaulted after he was found in possession of suspected stolen property.
The deceased has been identified as Julius Musa, a resident of Kigongi A Cell in Central Division, Kabale Municipality.
According to Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime, the incident was reported on Sunday, July 26, 2026, as a suspected murder by assault.
Musa was allegedly found with suspected stolen goods before he was severely assaulted. He later succumbed to the injuries sustained in the assault.
Officers at Kabale Central Police Station conveyed the deceased’s body to the mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death continue.
SP Tumushime strongly warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, urging them to report suspected criminals to police and other relevant authorities instead of resorting to violence.
