KANUNGU – Police in Kanungu District have arrested a 24-year-old Alex Byamukama from Bihomborwa village, Bihombirwa parish, Kihihi town council for reportedly engaging in inappropriate acts with two young girls, aged 10 and 11, both students at Bihomborwa Primary School.
On 15/10/2023, around 5:00 PM, the two victims, along with four other girls, went to collect firewood in the bush. Upon their return, Byamukama accused them of damaging Jane’s beans.
Subsequently, he singled out the two younger girls, ordering them to accompany him to collect grass as punishment. Once in the bush, he allegedly tied them up and committed the offenses.
Elly Maate, Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, stating that the victims reported the incident to their parents.
Jacenta Nyiransaba reported to the police, leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect.
Maate added that statements were obtained from the victims and thoroughly examined.
