KISORO – Police in Kisoro District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Victor Bashabomwe, a 49-year-old resident of Nombe ward, Rubuguri town council, Kisoro district.
The incident took place at an unknown date in Nombe ward, Rubuguri town council.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson, informed journalists today that on July 10, 2023, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Maria Nyirambagare, the 64-year-old mother of the deceased, who resides in the same village, reported a suspected murder case at the Rubuguri Police post.
According to ASP Maate, the deceased’s mother had not seen her son for four days, which prompted her to open his room. Tragically, she discovered the lifeless body of the deceased inside his small room.
Upon receiving the report, the police opened a case file and a medical officer conducted a postmortem examination at the scene.
The cause of death was determined to be suffocation. Ongoing inquiries are being conducted in relation to this case.
The suspected murder case has been registered at Kisoro central police station under reference number CRB 483/2023.
