Nine Arrested for Noise Pollution in Kireka

KAMPALA – Police in Kampala have apprehended nine individuals on charges of causing noise pollution in Kireka Bweyogerere within Kira Municipality.

The apprehension was conducted by a Joint Task Team comprised of personnel from Kira division and Bweyogerere, as part of a counter-operation targeting three specific bars: Sam, Obed, and Simon.

The arrested suspects are identified as follows: Byarugaba Peter, Akandunda Brenda, Tumuheki Deus, Kansime Osbert, Kashanya James, Andabati James, Pandi Ramathan, Atiku Simon, and Obita Robert.

SCP Fred Enanga, the spokesperson for the Uganda Police, confirmed that various exhibits and speakers were seized during the operation.

Enanga disclosed to this reporter that the information gathered indicates that on the night of September 10, 2023, at approximately midnight, concerned residents reported to the police the disturbance caused by several bars playing loud music, greatly inconveniencing the residents of Kireka Bweyogerere and disrupting their sleep.
