Former RDC Turned Musician Calls for Gov’t Support for Educational Music Industry

KISORO – The Former Resident District Commissioner of Kisoro, Dan Ndikumwami, is urging the government to recognize and support the educational music industry within the country.

Ndikumwami, who served briefly as an RDC before being reassigned during last year’s reshuffle, is no stranger to the world of music. Under his stage name, Danfordio Da Patriot, he has been a prominent figure in the music scene for most of his life. His plea stems from a deep-rooted passion for creating songs that promote government initiatives, projects, and community awareness.

Despite his dedication to composing educational songs, Ndikumwami feels that the government has been slow to acknowledge his contributions. Over the years, he has released music addressing critical issues, such as the Covid-19 pandemic with tracks like “Tonsemberera” and “Vaccination Campaign.” He also used his musical talents to raise awareness during the UPDF Corona campaign. Notably, in 2017, he released “Bajikwateko” during the age limit campaign.

In his capacity as a patriot, Ndikumwami recently dropped two songs aimed at promoting the implementation of the Parish Development Model. He also released a track titled “Jajja Omalako Tova Kumain,” praising President Museveni for his visionary leadership.

Ndikumwami expresses his disappointment that the government has frequently supported artists whose work contributes minimally to the country’s development while overlooking artists like him who focus on educational and developmental themes. This lack of recognition has been disheartening for him.
