Police in Kisoro District have launched a murder investigation following the shocking discovery of a decomposing body of a 32-year-old Rwandan woman in a rental house in Kisoro Municipality.
The deceased has been identified as Promise Nyiramutuzo, a national of Rwanda, whose lifeless body was found inside a rented room in Nyarugengeri Village, Busamba Ward, Southern Division. The residence belongs to a local landlady, Suzan Rwaretse.
According to residents, the discovery was made after neighbors noticed a foul smell and swarms of flies coming from Nyiramutuzo’s room. Alarmed by the situation, they contacted the landlady, who immediately alerted the police.
Officers from Kisoro Central Police responded to the scene and transferred the body to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination. The body was recovered around 5:30 PM.
Preliminary reports from the area suggest that the deceased had been working as a commercial sex worker since arriving from Rwanda.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, and authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the cause and identify any potential suspects.
Police have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as they intensify efforts to uncover the truth behind the suspected murder.
