RUKUNGIRI: Police in Rukungiri District have arrested a security guard attached to Millennium Security Company for allegedly shooting a 22-year-old man dead.

The suspect, identified as Nicholas Ainembabazi, stands accused of the murder of Kenneth Masanyu, a resident of Kyobugombe Cell, Kamahuri Parish, Rugarama North Sub County in Ntungamo District.

According to a police statement, the incident occurred yesterday around 10:00 PM at Rugoma Cell. The deceased, who was visiting his uncle Bitomwe Charles, inadvertently wandered into a banana plantation on his way to his grandmother’s house, owned by one Bitama Feredansi. He mistakenly ended up near the compound of Kazaire Julius, guarded by Millennium Security Company personnel.

When the security guard, Nicholas Ainembabazi, instructed him to sit down, Masanyu remained standing, which allegedly prompted Ainembabazi to shoot him directly, resulting in his immediate death.
