Police in Isingiro District are holding three suspects in custody over the robbery of 37million shillings from wave money transfer Uganda distributors.
Asp Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region police spokesperson has identified that suspects as Nkurunziza Kutesa Joram, Bukenya Bashir and Kakungulu Hassan Mulangira who robbed 37,000,000/=million Ugandan shillings from Wave Money Transfer Uganda employees that were in transit to distribute float to their agents.
Kasasira says the suspects intercepted Wave Money Transfer Uganda employees at Nshungyezi along Isingiro-Kikagate Road using motor vehicle Mark-X UBK 535T black in colour in which they were traveling in, sprayed red pepper in their eyes and took off with the money
Kasasira adds, the incident was reported at Kikagate Police Station at 1020/c on Friday this week alerting Police in the Region.
He noted that on Friday at 1120/c Police were able to intercept the assailants at Kabobo along Isingiro-Kitwe Ntungamo Road recovering USH13,473,500/= part of the stolen money and a forged numberplate UBJ 175C in the motor vehicle of the assailants.
He however said that one suspect by the name of Twinamatsiko Denis managed to escape but measures to have him arrested are ongoing.
He added that a statement of robbery has been registered at Isingiro central police station and investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
