KABALE:
The Kabale district resident Commissioner Mr Godfrey Nyakahuma has implored the youths in the district to embrace computer skills for they are the source of employment opportunities and income.
RDC Nyakahuma made the remark on Friday this week while closing a one-week computer training workshop organized by MTN Uganda and Maendeleo Foundation at Southern Division headquarters in Kabale Municipality.
Mr Nyakahuma stressed that most of the youth have decided to run for white collar jobs, which are no longer available and not enough to current educated youths in the country arguing them to use and practice skills they have acquired as a source of employment and generate their own income and again to improve on their standards of living in future.
He further asked the participants not use the acquired technology skills for negative purposes like misuse of social media, among others but instead use them for productive purposes like research that will contribute to their well-being.
Ms Macklin Kamusiime Batwaare the southern division chairperson LC3 urged the public to aim at attaining Education and get equipped with computer skills in order to join the digital error.
On 24 march 2022, President Museveni said technical and vocational education and training is the solution to the issue of youth unemployment in the country.
As a way of mitigating the challenge of unemployment among the youths and have more people join the money economy, in April this year, the government commissioned the Presidential Initiative for Zonal dubbed Kigezi sub region zonal industrial hub in Kabale district that aims to improve skills, development for youths and value addition to agricultural produce.
