KANUNGU: The territorial police in Kanungu district are currently holding a 35-year-old-man on the allegations of assassinating her 70 year-old- biological mother after denying him to sell land.
According to ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, the deceased is Pascazia Tumuhirwe a resident Kashaki village Rubimbwa parish in Kirima sub county, Kanungu district who was murdered by Anthony Niwomurisa her biological son after she denied him selling her land.
Maate said that, on Friday night at around 02:00am Tumuhirwe while at his home in Kashaki village, was attacked by Niwomurisa in her bed and she was hit using an axe that led to her instant death.
Maate told journalists that after the incident, the suspect reported himself to police in fear of being killed by angry residents.

He also said, Scene was visited, processed, the axe was recovered and exhibited and Post-mortem done as Inquiries are at hand.
The case of murder was registered at Kanungu Central Police station under reference number CRB 686/2022.
