KABALE: Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Honorable Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira, has reinforced President Museveni’s warning against sectarianism and urged Christians to reject divisive politics based on religion.

MP Atwakiire’s message was delivered by her political assistant, Alex Akampulira, accompanied by Bright Byamugisha, her top coordinator in Ndorwa East County. This occurred during a surprise visit to Kategure Church of Uganda under Kanjobe Parish in Kyanamira Sub County.
As part of her support, MP Atwakiire contributed Shs 500,000 towards the development of the church, particularly for completing the lay reader’s residential house.
She spoke against segregation and discrimination, advocating for love and unity among Christians. She encouraged them to embrace government programs such as the Parish Development Model Program, which aims to alleviate household poverty.
Dr. Hannington Ngabirano, a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at Kabale University, speaking on behalf of the construction committee and the church members, expressed gratitude to Honorable Atwakiire for her support. He also pledged the congregation’s full support for her initiatives.
Later, MP Atwakiire’s team visited St. Andrew’s Kamuronko Church of Uganda Archdeaconry in Maziba Sub County, where she donated 100kg of rice to support preparations for the induction of the new Archdeacon, scheduled for February 20, 2025.

Her representatives reiterated the importance of rejecting divisive politics and fostering love and unity among Christians.
Ven. Gordon Akankwasa, the new Archdeacon, appreciated MP Atwakiire and her team for their continuous support and pledged his full commitment to working with her for the benefit of the church and community.
In a related event, MP Atwakiire, represented by her political assistant, Alex Akampurira, addressed mourners during the funeral service of the late Francis Katabazi at Nyabisika Catholic Church in Rugarama Village, Buhara Sub County.

She encouraged the mourners to embrace love, uphold strong family values, and strive for a legacy that brings comfort and peace to their families.
MP Atwakiire urged the community to support one another and collaborate in developing their homes to eradicate poverty. She commended the late Katabazi’s family for their care towards their parents and encouraged them to honor his cherished memories and legacy.
Various mourners described the late Katabazi as a God-fearing, hardworking, and prayerful individual who served as a counselor and educator within the community.
